Fans of hip-hop can connect with one of the genre’s celebrated voices during an afternoon of music, storytelling and cultural reflection. Fredro Starr—actor, author and co-founder of the rap group ONYX—will appear for a book signing and conversation at The Art of Hip Hop in celebration of his new memoir.
The event, Book Signing: Fredro Starr of ONYX, takes place Sunday, May 25. Starr will present BACDAFUCUP: THE STORY OF ONYX, a personal and unfiltered account of the group’s rise from Queens street culture to platinum-selling success in the early 1990s. Known for its breakout hit “Slam” and raw performance style, ONYX helped define the sound and energy of hardcore hip-hop.
The afternoon also includes a live set by DJ Epps, whose career spans radio, club stages and international hip-hop events. Books will be available for purchase at the venue for $36, with pre-sale also offered online. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Fredro Starr and take photos following the signing.
